Indexes
Taxapad has two global indexes (include all the 25 taxonomic groups): supra-specific name index and common name index, and four local indexes for each of the taxonomic group: taxonomic index, content index and author index (authors of scientific names). The indexes for references and their authors for individual taxonomic groups are also available, see Refind.
Global supra-specific index
This contains all taxonomic names in the Taxapad 2005 that are of generic level or higher.
Global common name index
This contains common names taken from the following publications 1) Braby et al. 1997 'A provisional list of common names for Australian butterflies' 2) Brako, Rossman & Farr 1995 'Scientific and common names of 7,000 vascular plants in the United States' (in part) 3) Naumann 1993 'Handbook of Australian insect names' 4) Greiff 1989 'Spanish-English-Spanish lexicon of entomological and related terms with indexes of Spanish common names of arthropods.' 5) Werner 1982 'Common names of insects & related organisms approved by the Entomological Society of America' 6) Thomas & Janson 1957 'Common names of British insect and other pests'
Local taxonomic index
This lists all the scientific names of a taxonomic group. Binominal names (species names) are entered at least twice, once with generic name first and the other with the trivial name first. Go to the 'Search the Ichneumonoidea 2004 index' to browse the complete list of Ichneumonoidea scientific names.
Local content indexThis contains all the taxonomic, biological, morphological and distributional fields and contents (subject headings and subjects).
Local author indexThis contains all the names of authors who proposed new scientific names, and a list of taxa each described.
